About this deal

Whitley Neill has given its Original London Dry Gin a Jubilee makeover to mark the long weekend celebrations. No coronation parties will be complete without it. Why would you toast the new King’s health with French Champagne when you can raise a glass of 100% British cider?” With fresh citrus notes of grapefruit, crushed juniper and pink pepper on the nose, and a hit of jammy raspberry and fresh strawberry with a hint of vanilla on the palate, it’s easy to tell that the limited edition Platinum Jubilee gin by the Cotswold Distillery was inspired by classic British summer desserts.

Combining flavours of orange and currants with the warming spices of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, rosemary, coriander, and angelica, the resulting juniper-led gin has a fruity and robust finish, fit for a king. It is recommended served with Fever-Tree tonic, ice, and a slice of orange. The whisky is housed in a Dartington Crystal decanter, tinted in a deep sapphire blue hue, reminiscent of the precious stones set within the Imperial State Crown. In keeping with Royal Salute’s signature style, the decanter is presented in a wooden box inspired by the iconic Westminster Abbey, with details intricately chiselled into the wood, paying tribute to the historic setting of British Coronation ceremonies since 1066. It doesn’t get much more British than a Bank Holiday weekend enjoying a classic British dessert, unless, of course, that dessert comes in the form of a gin liqueur. We wanted to mark the occasion with the launch of Devon Red Cider, which is created from British apples grown and pressed in Devon, using traditional methods, at the oldest working cider mill in the UK. The liquid is un-peated, floral, complex and created using the original Victorian machinery, paying homage to both past and present by bringing together traditional distilling methods ‘into a world of present significance’.

Distilled at The City of London Distillery, the first and only gin distillery in the heart of London for more than 200 years, Whitley Neill Connoisseur’s Cut Gin is a classic London Dry expression that sits at 47% ABV, letting the rich juniper and citrus notes shine through. The beer is said to have light caramel notes and a deep golden hue with east Kent Goldings hops adding a spiciness to the citrus and fruit aromas, rounded out with subtle bitterness from a generous hopping of Kentish Challenger.Wonky Windsor is a 37.5% ABV pink gin made with the fruits of cast off ‘wonky’ British strawberries. Distilled slowly in the business’s Arnold Holstein copper still, this spirit is inspired by King Charles’ love of the environment and passion for sustainability. Brewer T&R Theakston is raising a pint in celebration of the seventh coronation in its almost 200-year history with the launch of a special edition beer for King Charles III. Salford’s Four Sis4ers Distillery has launched a limited edition fruit-waste strawberry gin to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III, called Wonky Windsor. This pink gin is made with the fruits of ‘wonky’ British strawberries. It has been distilled in the distillery’s Arnold Holstein copper still, and inspired by King Charles’ love of the environment and passion for sustainability. The recipe is a combination of flavours of orange and currants with the warming spices of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, rosemary, coriander, and angelica. The resulting juniper-led gin is said to have a fruity and robust finish. The 40% ABV gin takes inspiration from a summer garden, and the Stratford-Upon-Avon-based distiller has combined hibiscus, lemon verbena and thyme with the more traditional gin botanicals of juniper, coriander seed, orris root and lemon peel.

The team at the Shakespeare Distillery in Stratford-upon-Avon has crafted a dry gin that takes inspiration from the late Queen and Queen Mother’s love for a gin and Dubonnet. To mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, the City of London unveiled a new still called Elizabeth after the late Queen. It is on this still that all Whitley Neill’s London Dry gins are made, including this special release. Boasting a new recipe, crafted specifically to celebrate the historical occasion, Silent Pool’s Coronation Gin has been made using infusions of King Charles’ favourite Surrey botanicals, plants and flowers, with gentle notes of bergamot orange, complemented by elegant floral notes from rose petals, lavender and chamomile. Shakespeare Distillery has launched a new Jubilee Gin to coincide with the celebrations around the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

To complement the ale, project executive chef Sang Nguyen has created three new limited-edition food dishes with a royal twist that will be available at selected Shepherd Neame pubs across the Coronation weekend. Silent Pool’s 43% ABV Coronation Gin also uses dried plum and raspberry leaves to infuse the gin, leaving lingering fruity notes. Finally, Earl Grey tea and tangy hawthorn berries deepen the palette. Sandford Orchards chief cider-maker Barny Butterfield said: “Most of us are too young to remember the last coronation so we are eagerly anticipating some fantastic celebrations across the country. A blend of more than 53 rare malt and grain whiskies, the Royal Salute Coronation of King Charles III Edition is a rich and complex expression with notes of fresh redcurrants, dark chocolate praline, and freshly roasted chestnuts, and a palate of sweet figs and fresh ginger leading up to a long and rich finish with a playful spice. Presented in a dark glass bottle with an eye-catching regal purple and silver label, the Cotswolds Distillery wanted to make a gin with all the depth of flavour and complexity expected of a Cotswolds Distillery gin, but with a delicious summertime twist, creating the perfect combination between classic and contemporary to mark this very special event.
