There is one place where the author's language could be construed as a bit racist, but I suppose the reader must keep in mind that this was originally published in 1925. The result was Roger Sheringham, who makes his debut appearance here in Berkeley's first detective novel - and makes several incorrect deductions even within the first chapter.
