About this deal

Incredible and Frozone sit in a car, talking—something found in countless live-action films and few animated ones (discounting anime, of course). And finally, we get the publicity angle which offers up three trailers including the terrific teaser in which Bob struggles to get his super-belt around his super-belly, and four spoof interviews with the animated Supers themselves as the movie premiers. Following the tradition of sophisticated humor and whimsy found in other digital marvels like Pixar's own Toy Story movies and Dreamworks' Shrek flicks, The Incredibles is the kind of animated fare that's great for adults and kids alike.

A scene in which Jack and Helen visit Edna, the costume designer to the Supers, evokes similar scenes between James Bond and Q. or Finding Nemo DVDs as yet, but the Incredibles DVD is noticeably different from, say, the Bug’s Life DVD—about as much as the two movies are different—and yet it fulfils the apparent Pixar mandate of extras and features that expertly mix nuts-and-bolts analysis, irreverent humour, and technical fastidiousness. Finally, we get to see what happens to the babysitter when little Jack Jack decides to play in the awesome and fully-finished off animated short Jack Jack Attack which runs for 4 mins and is a fantastic and hysterical addition. More than an hour's worth of behind-the-scenes footage is split between segments appropriately titled Making of The Incredibles and More Making of The Incredibles. What sets The Incredibles apart and makes it, well, incredible, is its sweetly sugar-coated criticism of America's suburbs today.

The characters are captivating and convincing - forget the emotional knee-jerking of the likes of Bambi for a moment and savour the real-life emotions displayed here. The Incredibles is the mightiest example of animation I have seen thus far - vibrant, engaging, affecting. Key among them are the family strife between Bob and Helen over Helen's desire for stability and Bob's wishes for adventure and the idea that Dash and Violet aren't allowed to be special for fear of them standing out. The three trailers for the film that are included are much more interesting, including the teaser that first introduced Mr.

However, if there's one criticism that could be levelled at them, it's that hitherto their formula could be loosely described as 'misfits on a quest'. While I imagine many students of animation will be furiously scribbling notes and making sketches, the extras aren’t all about training a new generation of animators. The storyline of The Incredibles is too good to be written off as just the stuff of a children's movie. has found the perfect home for his talents, "The Incredibles" represents the perfect marriage of director and studio.

Just a little warning though, the DVD that comes with this US version 4-disc set (DVD in the NTSC format, 2 x blu-ray discs, the film and extras and a digital copy on disc) is that the NTSC format DVD may not play on UK machines, or if it does, the picture may not be great.
