About this deal

This configuration should be more versatile than the proper Liverpool : you can still cut the bass, but not obliged to.

Of course, I did spend some time setting it up to create the tone I needed through my particular set-up, and I do use a very high quality power supply (the 1Spot).I only use the amp sim (with 2x10 cab) and tuner function, though there's lots more under the hood if you want it. I have a little Champ 600 with the fixed tonestack removed and use this and a reverb pedal in front of it and to my ears it does really bring the whole setup to life - so much so that the amp now does not sound as good without it. Here are a small "map" of where those components are if you want to tweak them, and a simulation of the frequency responses of the British, Liverpool and AC Tone. Like I said, it's a fantastic unit and does everything else well, but it's not what you want for your intended purpose, IMHO.

It also comes with a Dyna Comp-based compressor and can supply power to up to eight separate pedals. The dang thing sounds like a Vox, and has all the great chime and breakup you'd want out of an AC-amp. According to a quick Spice simulation, I suppose that the Joyo American Sound has slightly more treble than the Tech21 Blonde (can easily be compensated with the Treble pot), and it's Mid and Voice controls are set more in the lo-mids range. So do not need a cab sim pedal for the AC Tone , the Wampler Thirty Something however is designed mainly to be used with an amp . While the Joyo is a good pedal, one easy way to improve it is to run the output into an active DI, then whatever stage snake/amp/mixer you're using. If you matched the amplitudes at 1kHz (a reference no better than others) with the Voice control at mid-point, it actually has less treble .

I guess that the input impedance of the unpowered opamp screws up the capacitance measurement there. The AC Tone pedal from Joyo really captures something usually missing from most modern guitar sounds: subtle to aggressive warmth and a natural sounding overdrive.

On the contrary, you can dial pretty thin old-radio sound when cutting bass, voice and gain, and boosting mids. I used my Quilter 101 Mini as the clean amp, with the Joyo American in front for the overdrive, and kicked in some dB boost from an eq pedal for the heavier lead parts.
