About this deal

I also read A Kiss for Little Bear some time ago and I think I might actually prefer it to this short story collection, but I remain a loving Little Bear fan and plan to continue the series, feeling confident I will enjoy them all. This book is an example of a picture book because the text is brief, and the illustrations greatly enhance the story narrative. Existe uma sexta história "Little Bear and the Marco Polo", ilustrada por Dorothy Doubleday, e um conjunto de histórias, ilustrado por Chris Hahner mas que não fazem parte desta coleção. The reader becomes curious as to where the story is going which at the same time makes it an intriguing read.

My sister (who was five at the time) received the book as a present when she started grade one in September 1976, but I ended up hijacking it for a while, as I wanted to practice reading English and Little Bear was at that time just the right level of difficulty for me.This can be the first book to gift to your child who is learning to read after introducing them all the 42 sounds and sight words.

Fun and games all day long for the family and the boy until the skies grow dark and the silver stars shine. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice.

They had clearly read it before numerous times because the repetition throughout meant they also read it aloud along with me! It’s a repetitive story so it would be ideal to read out to very young children and encourage them to join in with you. Little Bear is very excited to see him—even if he doesn’t bring the toy Little Bear has been hoping for! It is illustated in a very complimentary way, with beatiful pictures, again, great for engaging a child.

When Wednesday reveals the bear was too big for his pocket, the boy plops him into his hat, and decides it is time to take the bear home.It showed the children that everyone has these feelings and if they try very hard they can overcome them and feel proud of themselves for doing so. My grandmother was the only one who understood my love for the bear and was the one who bought me the book and I read it countless times. The text has lots of repetition, there's a clear background for the text and Sendak's classic illustrations add to the story. It’s such a lovely story and the way that my children understand it is to actual experience the key features of the book for themselves. Else Holmelund Minarik's simple stories and Maurice Sendak's warm illustrations make Little Bear a favorite among beginning readers.

Rereading it as an adult, I was struck by the often humorous nature of the exchanges between Little Bear and Mother Bear, with their sly back-and-forth dialogue. He rushes about so much he is often hungry, so any suggestion of a picnic or party, or even just a bowl of porridge, will get his attention. The bit about them going out of the cave into the big dark unknown and the little bear being scared resonated with us as we were terrified about taking our baby out into the unknown. I really enjoyed this gentle tale (that is not without humor) about Little Bear who can't get to sleep because of his fear of the dark, and patient and resourceful Big Bear who helps him through his fears (even though Big Bear has a very exciting part of his book to read and keeps getting interrupted! The series was animated by Canadian studio Nelvana and starred Kristin Fairlie as the voice of Little Bear.It is an excellent story to use expression when being told, making it an excellent book to engage the child whom it is being read to( eg. The final episode, in which Little Bear has fallen asleep in Big Bear's arms, and Big Bear (finally!
